Palm Sunday – Praying for Our Communities

Passport to Prayer – Lent 2016

Sunday – Mar. 20, 2016

___ Attend Worship

John 12:12-13: The next day the great crowd that had come for the Festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Today, go on a prayer walk (or drive). Go to various locations within your community and pray at each site for the people who are involved in this location. Suggested locations are: local school, police department, fire department, local government offices and other places you choose.

O God, halfheartedly we join the parade welcoming Jesus. Give us passion to follow you even when no one else will. We wait for others to shout, “Hosanna!” Give us courage to believe even when others do not. We’re not sure we will hang onto Jesus at all times. Open our clenched hands and frozen hearts. When we leave the story because it gets too difficult, help us see your never-ending love. Forgive us of our own times of betrayal. May your compassion fill us with faith. Amen.

Blessings –

Dianne
