Gratitude Day 871

Isaiah 40:26 – Look up into the heavens! Who created all these stars? As a shepherd leads his sheep, calling each by its pet name, and counts them to see that none are lost or strayed, so God does with stars and planets!

Remember that old saying that dogs are human being’s best friend? Well, sometimes, even dogs need end-of-life special care.

Jane’s Journey Home for Dogs was specifically funded just for these dogs. Dedicated to providing compassionate, loving, end of life animal care, Jane’s Journey Home for Dogs offers loving care to pets who need it most.

They partner with community members to provide a peaceful retirement home for aging dogs and special needs pets near the end of their lives. For those who need a second chance, they pursue pet education and adoption. They yearn to redesign views of animal care while focusing on quality of life and happiness for those who are often at the stage when they are discarded.

Jane’s Journey Home for Dogs believes that companion animals contribute positively to quality of life. Pets can teach us about patience, respect, responsibility, loyalty, and unconditional love. They are committed to helping pets live out their golden years, months, weeks or days with love, security and peace. When decisions need to be made, they consider what is in the best interest of the animal.

This non-profit organization is named after Jane Barton. After she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Jane dedicated her last days to caring for aging dogs. Jane’s son, Lawrence, is carrying on his mother’s wishes to have a place for aged dogs.

In 2021, Jane’s Journey Home for Dogs established a farm near Baraboo, WI that is a rural retirement home for aging dogs and special needs pets. In this environment, pets are cared for by trained staff, loving volunteers and veterinarians. Visitors are welcome to visit the farm. Palliative care is provided for geriatric dogs. When the time is right, they help pets have a painless and peaceful journey to end their life.

We know this February Our Monthly Resolution organization is a bit different than those we have selected previously. Yet, we know so many people whose lives are enhanced by their pet. This is a different way of supporting those at the end of life. We pray you will consider supporting this organization.

Blessings –

Dianne

Loving God – We thank you for those people who have a passion that might be different than our own. We know their heart is in the place where they feel they are making a difference. May we help encourage those with special gifts to use them for the glory and honor of your kingdom. Amen.
