Hebrews 5:12 – By now you should have been teachers, but once again you need to be taught the simplest things about what God has said. You need milk instead of solid food.

Gratitude Day 812

I pray that you had a great week! We have a new covering of snow here in Wisconsin this week, although some people had ice. I’ll show an example a little later.

This Lent, I am encouraging us to think about “Simple is Better.” Because of the snow and most everything being canceled, we watched an Ash Wednesday devotional online. Yes, it was different. But an important way to begin Lent!

Often, I have put together a calendar with suggestions of ways that you can serve God and others during Lent. This year, I’m taking a different approach. Please refer to the sheet with weekly suggestions of things that you could do to help you simplify your life. Yes, there are some doing things. But these doing things will help you get to having less and more simple in your life. Rather than giving you specific things to do each day, I’m sharing ideas that you can embrace throughout the week. The beginning of each week, I’ll also share more ideas and details in the blog. If you do not receive the weekly emails of the blog, now would a great time to sign up!

These suggestions refers back to the three ideas I suggested that you pick three areas for you to focus on during Lent. I would love to hear your three areas! Each week, I encourage you to reflect on these three areas as part of Simple is Better.

One way I want to encourage all of us is by attending in-person worship. If you have a regular church, please make the effort to be in worship every Sunday during Lent! Personally, I think simple begins in making sure my relationship with God is something that is important and fulfilling for me personally. For me, this includes worship. I realize that not every worship service will hit you the same. And this is OK. But being with other believers is super important.

If you do not attend worship on a regular basis, what if holding you back? If you aren’t sure where to attend, ask a friend for a suggestion. I encourage eyou to make this a high priority throughout Lent.

All right. What is inspiring me this week? Here are a few things:

This beautiful picture. I didn’t taken it but I think it is spectacular.

This song. I’ve been playing it on repeat.

This movie. Hubby Rick and I watched it this week and thought it was a great movie to watch during Lent. It is available on Amazon Prime for free. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, try your local library.

Again, download the Simple is Better idea suggestions for Lent. Better yet? Share one with a friend? Share it on social media! Encourage others to join in the Simple Is Better this Lent.

For the opportunity to really seek simplicity during Lent, I am grateful.

Blessings –

Lord God – Thank you for the special time of the year when we have an opportunity to think about our relationship with You. May I take time and space to do this throughout Lent this year. Amen.
