Passport to Prayer – Lent 2016

Wednesday – Mar. 2, 2016

Psalm 121:1-2: I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The Hebrew people would have often set the Psalms to music. Psalm 121 is indicated as “a song of ascents.” It’s a prayer inside of a psalm. What is your favorite kind of Christian music? How do you feel about Christian music that is not your favorite genre? Can you think of a song that seems also like a prayer? Listen to a favorite Christian song or read the words. Turn it into a prayer.

Lord, we thank you for music that moves our souls and enhances our worship experience. May we see ourselves in the songs of the Hebrew people and how they are part of our faith journey today. Speak to us through the power of music. Amen.

Blessings –

Dianne
