Passport to Prayer Lent 2016

Matthew 6:3-4: So when you give to the poor, don’t let anyone know what you are doing. Your giving should be done in private. Your Father can see what is done in private, and he will reward you.

Life is busy and often full. Our plates seem already full. Yet, one of the best ways we demonstrate our love for God is when we love our neighbors. Helping others is hard. Sometimes we feel the receiving party doesn’t appreciate what we do. Other times, we get hurt. Jesus also how this feels.

In the space below, write down the names of six people you can help this Lent. Identify how you can reach out and assist them. Challenge yourself to help one person a week during Lent. You choose the order!

Yep, we think we have enough to do already. Or maybe we’re uncomfortable reaching out to someone who might need help, afraid we will offend. Lord, thank you for giving me the names of these people. Give me the courage to reach out and help them this Lent. Amen.
